Whew… seems like I have been unpacking a LOT this week.

The “challenge” is going strong, You have until March 16th to return your completed card, project etc to us. We will pick different people each month to vote, select winners (yes winners with an S) and give out some cool and fun prizes. We will also post some, maybe all, of the ones turned in to us in upcoming newsletters.  We are going to try this for 3 months, to see how it all goes… so, if you think it will be fun, come on in and pick up your kit!

We are also trying out our “make n takes are fun” events, on one Saturday morning a month, from 9:30-12. We will have at least 5 different make n takes available for you to purchase at $4 each. You can purchase as many as you like, it is first come first serve, then you can make them here, or take them home with you. Thank you!!! the next one is Saturday March 24th – mark your calendars to come join us.

We want to thank each of you for your support and your friendship, which continues to bless us and make us smile every single day. We could not do what we do without each of you.

On a bit more serious note, as you may have heard another stamp store in San Diego is closing soon. It is truly a sign of the times, as people say. People are shopping online, at big box stores, expos’ etc.  I want to speak from my heart here. There are so many many hours that Walt & I put into our store. It is truly not a 10-5pm day for us. We do it from our hearts, and we want to continue to do it for a long time.

That being said:  There are times when people, our customers, come into the store and start to talk about other stores, big box stores, online shopping, shopping on TV shows, expos’ etc. where they go to purchase craft items. I don’t think it is done with the intention of hurting us, or of pointing people to other places to shop. But, truly that is what it does. It is harmful to our business.

We put a lot of ourselves into the store, when you come in, please do not talk about other places. We don’t want to close, we don’t want to go out of business. Please “connect those dots” in your mind, to see what you are doing.

Also, we would like the opportunity to be your one stop store. We can custom order so many things from so many vendors. Did you see it on a tv shopping channel? give me a call to see if we can order it. We can price match it, and yes it helps us to stay open. Want an example? we sell the Gemini machine. We can get it for you for the same price you are seeing it on TV – so, my question, why are you ordering it on TV?

Last summer, we had Dyan come into teach, she said that if people do not shop local stores, she will not have anywhere to teach. It is true, if we close, where are you going to take classes? Get quality paper that you can see the true color, texture and weight of BEFORE you buy it?  Where are you going to meet friends to craft with?  Where will you go to get your questions answered and learn techniques?

Do you wonder why so many craft stores are closing? I hope that this answers some of those questions, I hope that it does not offend you, and I hope that we can stay open to support this amazing crafting community that we have truly come to love and enjoy.

We are going to start a “bad word” jar. It is a jar for anyone who mentions ANY option other than shopping at our store, to put a $1 into.

“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality. Walt Disney”

As always, we want to wish you all a wonderful week, full of friends and laughter.

take care and we hope to see you soon

Walt & Roxanne
